首先來看這么一段話，來自《銀河護衛隊》里媽媽寫給星爵的信：

Peter, I know these last few months have been hard for you. But I’m going to a better place. And I will be okay. And I will always be with you. You are the light of my life.  My precious son. My little Star-Lord.

Peter, 我知道最近幾個月對你來說很痛苦，但是我去了更好的地方，我會照顧好自己的。我會永遠陪在你身邊。你是我生命的曙光，我摯愛的兒子，我的小星爵。

這里涉及了習語“the light of your life”，它的意思是“最愛的人”。追星少女最能理解這句話啦，“為什么喜歡一個遙遠的人? 因為他會發光啊！”

好的，今天就來學習和light有關的實用表達。

1. cast/shed/throw light on sth 為…提供解釋；使…較容易理解

His diary cast light on life in England in the seventeenth century.

他的日記使人了解17世紀英格蘭的生活情況。

2. come to light（真相）為人所知，被披露

Fresh evidence has recently come to light that suggests that he didn't in fact commit the murder.

新近發現的證據表明那起兇殺案并不是他干的。

3. go out like a light 立即入睡；馬上失去知覺

go out的意思有“出去；熄滅”，這里就用燈光熄滅的速度來比喻立即入睡的狀態，很形象吧！下面分享的例句來自《駱駝祥子》：

When he lay down finally, he went out like a light the moment his head touched the d, and he felt it wouldn't be such a bad thing if he never woke again.

5. light at the end of the tunnel 隧道盡頭的亮光，曙光

這個習語常用來指局勢出現好轉或艱巨任務即將完成的跡象，不知道大家有沒有看過《釜山行》。電影的最后幸存的兩個人要通過長長的隧道，最終她們靠著盡頭的亮光走完了隧道活了下去。

6. show someone in a bad light 丑化（某人）

in a bad light的意思是在看不清楚的地方；在光線不好的地方。
